The People Centric Project History
Nearly two years ago, we set out to discover what it means to “be exceptional” in life and in business. We wanted to identify what it took to have an exceptional life and/or lead an exceptional company. We met with 1000’s of people and companies that we believed were truly exceptional because they stood out among the crowd, people were drawn to them. People in the community wanted to be a part of their mission, organization or company. They were being sought after.
Through the 1,000’s of conversations we discovered, at least from our perspective, there were common characteristics and traits in these conversations. We determined that exceptional people and companies strive to be the best they can be. They choose to be a catalyst in the lives of others. They empower them to become the best they can be in life and in business. Exceptional companies are “people centric”, they put the needs of others, their employees and their customers at the core of what they do. Now we want to take what we discovered in those conversations and determine how a company becomes People Centric: the benefits, the process, the goals, ultimately the return on this investment.
What does it mean to be People Centric?
Our project is designed to understand how the best cultures and environments for growth are created, developed, enhanced and maintained. Our goal is to learn, listen and facilitate a "discussion" with the best companies we are connected to on how to best inspire employees, enhance their lives (personally and professionally) and ultimately determine how these efforts can enhance productivity and results of the company.
On the 11th of September of 2017, we hosted a preview of our program with some of the areas thought leaders on the critical elements needed to create, develop and enhance a strong culture. We are grateful that the BW Leadership Institute (BWLI) were open to sharing their insights on how to become "people centric." Several speakers and facilitators from the BW Leadership Institute lead our discussions that day and those discussions have set the course for the "People Centric Project."
Based on the foundation created at that event, the People Centric Project will officially start on August 27th, 2018 with a collaborative book study of Everybody MATTERS. In addition to the collaborative book study, we will host a People Centric event on October 10th. We will end the year with a celebration on December 5th, 2018 to share all of the insights discovered and to highlight the companies who participated in our project through a video documentary.
The project has three primary objectives:
1) Define what being "People Centric" means. Determine the metrics and measurables of being people centric by critically thinking about the future of business and how being people centric will be a competitive advantage.
2) Collaborate with like minded leaders on how best to become "People Centric" by sharing insights, experiences and creative strategies.
3) Create a community of People Centric Companies that are willing to start the ripple effect in our community.
